Lydia Perakis (she/her) is a Greek, New York based artist who works with performance, movement making, education and arts administration. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee and raised in the Greek island of Crete.

 

Her work is multi-disciplinary and engages primarily with movement, spoken text, set incorporation and multimedia. Venues she has presented work include: the Danspace Project, Green Space, Jennifer Muller/The Works Studio, SMUSH gallery, Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, Bridge for Dance and Threes @ Franklin + Kent.

 

Lydia is a full time dance educator in the educational platform of Outschool and is a staff member at New York Live Arts, the Center for Performance Research and the Soho Playhouse.

Her training includes acquiring a BFA in Dance and a Minor in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies from NYU-Tisch School of the Arts (2019). Since then, she has trained with various artists around the globe and considers herself a life-long student on her craft.
